There are many advantages to taking the Classroom On-Line
  • It is safer, no Covid 19.
  • There is no waiting. You can start within 1/2 hour of enrolling.
  • It is convenient, you can do it at home on your personal computer.
  • Every student gets the same course. With regular classrooms, no two classrooms are ever exactly alike.
  • Nothing gets missed. It is easy for the instructor in a regular classroom to miss something.
  • No one else gets to hog the conversation. The on-line classroom time is all your time.
  • There is no need to finish the online classroom to begin the in-car training.
  • It saves us money and we pass the savings on to you.

SPACE CUSHION DRIVING as taught By Airdrie Driving School

Here are five simple rules that you can use in almost every driving situation:

Aim High in Steering
Look ahead to where you will be at least 15 seconds from now. That's about a
block to a block and a half at city speeds. On the highway, scan to the horizon.

Get the big picture
Eliminate vision barriers by establishing proper following distances. Stay far enough behind other vehicles to obtain the visibility required to make your own decisions.

Keep your eyes moving
Keep your eyes moving at least every two seconds. Check your mirrors every four to seven seconds.

Leave your self an out
Whenever possible, surround your vehicle with space. Choose the proper lane, and adjust your speed accordingly to maintain a space cushion all around your vehicle.
If you lose part of the cushion, work to keep at least the front and one side open. Avoid tailgaters, encourage them to pass.

Make sure that they see you
Drive with your lights on, day and night. Get eye to eye contact by using the
warning devices on your vehicle, but don't take eye contact for granted. Be sure
that your warnings are heeded. ¤

*Warning*

Don't Get Catfished

Airdrie Driving School is not in any way associated with someone calling themselves

Airdrie Drivers Academy or, McKenzie Drivers ED

When people sign up with a driving school, they place a lot of faith in that driving school to be reputable and exactly who they say they are. They are sending their teenagers out in the car with these people and they expect them to be honorable. To this end the government of Alberta requires all driving school owners and instructors to have criminal record checks. They also require all driving schools to be bonded. Lately, it seems that this is not enough.

There has crept into the Driving School Industry, and I am sure many other industries as well, companies, and their unscrupulous owners, who try to fool you into thinking that they are a different company than they actually are. They do this by using very similar sounding names as legitimate well-known companies. This type of behavior is especially despicable when you consider that driving schools often deal with minors. Do you really want to send your teenage daughter, or son for that matter, out in the car with someone who isn’t who you thought that they were? It is important that you know who you are dealing with.

In my opinion people and companies who do these types of things should be brought up on criminal charges. How they manage to get licenced is beyond me. If you agree with me, please contact your MLA and Alberta Transportation Safety, (The licensing body for Driving Schools and Driving Instructors and let them know how you feel.

You may also want to call the owners of these outfits and let them know how you feel about these practices

Also, if you feel like you have been conned into dealing with one of these dishonestly named companies,  Please call me, I may be able to help you get your money back, without it affecting your licence or certificate in any way.

Here is a free driving tip

The Traction Control on your car is designed to help keep you from skidding. It is not designed to help you get unstuck

If you get stuck in the snow in a car that has traction control, turn the traction control off while trying to get unstuck. It really helps.

Once you are unstuck, remember to turn it back on.
